Did I tell you that Kelly is a farmer?

I didn't?

Well, she is. At least, that is what she tells me.

She loves to go out and plant with her Papa Coop. They planted onions a few weeks back. Red and yellow. They planted some tomato plants as well. Then Mommy left them out in the wind, and now they are dead...it is a looong story, and it makes me sad. Oh, the little voice in your head that tells you to bring in a plant... I really need to start listening to that.

Today Papa Coop planted water melons, cucumbers, pickling cucumbers, more onions and some snap dragons. It was a beautiful day.

Kelly enjoys planting and being one with the earth. She loves to water the plants.

Let me tell you a story about watering the garden with her the other day.

I made the first mistake of the day by waking Kelly up to early. It was 8am.

Boo hoo.

She needs to work on waking up earlier because a certain little someone has morning kindergarden in the fall and it will be really bad if she does not work on her morning skills.

We are working on that pronto!!

Being a gardener is going to be key. See, she loves to water on irrigation day.

But then the wind started to blow and Mommies next mistake came into play.

I put a new outfit on her on irrigation day. A windy irrigation day.

So, then my pretty little princess too nervous and angry to be the happy little farmer that we all know that she is.

(Cue evil music)

The bad, bad wind blew the sweet, sweet H2O on to Kelly's new outfit.

And, action Kelly.... she now feels like crying and whining about small specks of red dirt on her new pants.

Oh the horror!

Is there anyone out there with the sense and understanding to help this situation?

Anyone?

(Cue super hero music)

Yes!

Mommy is here with her super green hair dryer and the super hero strength to out wit a sobbing 5 year old.

No autographs please.

Dang I look good in tights.

(ha ha HA HA!! that was a good one)

All is right with the world...until I, Super Mommy have to drain out the fish tank in Kelly's room tomorrow. I might have to take a major hit of fish water in my mouth when I siphon out the tank, but it is a small price to pay for JUSTICE!

Cool fish tank right?

Aunt Shannon gave this to Kelly. It has a rad plant in it to help keep it clean and he looooooves it. It looks cool to.

Wanna guess what she named her fish?

Rex! I adore it.

I shall leave you with a completely too cute picture of my niece Sadie.

She is the most precious little girl. I love that she is rocking the yellow headband. It is so "spring" and it makes me smile.

Until next time.

A very good day

Today we went to Mia's 3rd birthday party!

It was a lot of fun. Kelly and Mia played great together. There was a TON of fun, multi-colored balloons. Doug grilled up some tasty grub. Deej and I got to hang out and listen to people other than Kelly. Just what the doctor ordered, I tell you.

Mia looked like she had a fun time. They blew bubbles, caught butterflies, and ate yummy cake.

What more can you ask for when you are three?

Here is a sweet picture of Kelly and Mia catching those butterflies.

They are so smart, that after a while they just stood by where the butterflies were going to come out. Then they waited there and caught them all.

You load up the butterflies, and then they shoot out of the elephant nose. The crummy thing about this game is that it takes all of 2 seconds for them to fly out...then it is butterfly loading time again and it is a teensie weensie bit annoying.

No, I am just old and easily annoyed. Whaaaa baby.

My littlest sister Shannon, (here is her blog...brandonshannon.blogspot.com go and read her....she is soooooo funny) challenged me to post my 6 word memoir. How interesting and at the same time off-putting. Who can really think of what a good 6 word memoir could possibly be?

Well I certainly can.

Because I rule.

Ok, here it goes.

Alexis Cooper's 6 word memoir for May 3rd 2008. (It really could change tomorrow)

Always willing and eager to help.

Ha Ha! Take that!

I leave you this fine evening with two thoughts.

One... Kelly wants to either be a secret agent, or a police officer. (see picture above, she has a badge, a gun and a cell phone in her pockets)

Two... Savy won the stinkiest feet contest on the bus ride home from the BYU track meet yesterday.

Rad.

Ha ha

Take this test!
So you might not be a psychiatrist...and you most definitely haven't switched bodies with your kids (right?), but when it comes to parenting, you've got a lot in common with hardworking Tess Coleman. You're passionate and driven about your family and your career, and you do everything in your power to make sure that your family has it all.

Even when you're juggling a million responsibilities, you take most things you do very seriously. But you can certainly find that kid inside and cut loose when you need to. You just have to remind yourself every once in a while that doing cartwheels in the backyard can be just as educational as homework. Give it a whirl!

It's Fri-ness-day!

Well, to mere mortals it is Friday. To me it is Fri-ness-day. It is kind of a play on Wed-ness-day.... but I do go on.

Here is a sweet unassuming picture of Wyatt, Jesee and Kelly. They are being their cute little selves, eating suckers and making me smile.

There is something that I must admit.

I like to spy on them when they play.

Is that weird?

Yes, it really sounds weird.

It is just that when I am obviously watching them, they act all good and sweet. They are just little 5 year olds with nothing crazy planned at all. Then, when I am not around they turn into diabolical super children.

They plan adventures, develop complicated potions, and dare each other to do amazing things.

Just the other day I am pretty sure that they were playing a pretend game of Alvin and the Chipmunks....only I swear that they were speaking in primitive Mandarin Chinese. It was odd to say the least.

Here the little munchkins are when they were just wee ones. That is Jesee, Kelly then Wyatt. It still looks like them, only with less hair. It could be just my imagination but I swear it seemed like they were communicating with their minds when we took this picture. The idea was silly back then, but now I can see it being a reality. Those clever little people.
I love 'em!

Happy Birthday AMANDO!

Yes, I call her Amando.

Yes, she really doesn't like it too much.

Yes, I should probably stop calling her that.... especially on her birthday. I will work on that.

Aaaannnyyyyway.

The super rad, total embodiment of mega mommy, tennis playing, basketball dominating, sister of ours is 24 years old today.

Ah, to be 24 again. *sigh*

I gave her some pretty flowies to mark the special day. I hope that they are well behaved and stay alive for a while. They are not cut, they are in a pot, but I still do not trust them.

Much love seeeesta.

Chocolate milk yo!!!!

It is true! The fridge here at casa de Cooper is FULL of chocolate milk. All because a truck tipped over on the highway yesterday.

I know that I joke around alot, but this is true!

A friend of my sister Cynthia called her and said.... "Get everyone you know and tell them to come and get some chocolate milk."

Ok...... That was super random.

So, she came and got me, and we loaded up her 4runner and away we went to drop off cases of chocolate milk to all of our peeps. Seriously, we had about 20 cases of it in there.

We started calling people and you know what?

What?

Everyone that we called already HAD some milk from someone else.

The town is so small that someone had already beat us to it.

Ugh. A simple, seemingly easy, task turned into a loooong night of chocolate milk pimping.

I can see it now, all of the children of Kanab will be hating chocolate milk three months from now. It is going to be strange.

Happy Birthday Als!

My sweet, sweet seeeeesta Ali is 19 today!

She is a super busy, crazy nice gal and I am excited for her to be here this summer. She is busting some serious booty at college in St. George. Before you know it she is going to be an awesome elementary teacher.

Kelly and I have been talking about Als today and Kelly has the cutest things to say about her Aunt.

She said
  • that Ali is always nice to her,
  • that Ali let her freak out in the car,
  • does not bully her,
  • has hair in her ring
  • she sings pretty
Kelly says the most interesting things.

We love you Ali! Hope that you have a great day today!

Hello...Hello...

Things are warm and fuzzy here at casa de Coop.

Savy is feeling better after going under the knife on the 10th.

I made it through driving 12 hours to Colorado.

Being a happy person when I wanted to be a sad one. Then driving 12 hours back here.

I learned so much about how much I love my sisters, my Mommy, and my Dad in one weekend that I can not really express in so many words.

My hubby was a super dad to Kelly in my absence. I now know that he can do it all... I am so proud.

Easter was fun!

Kelly loves to hunt for eggs.

I am thinking of hiding her toys just to see her find them again. It is just to funny.

I love my family.

I am still dealing with the loss of my Poppy. I am not sure if I will ever be the same.

I am ok with that.

Everything has new meaning to me.

Tomorrow I get to hang out with my neice Sadie. I am seriously looking forward to that. She is funny and silly, and sweet. Just what the doctor ordered.

If only people could bottle what she has.... I bet everyone would be happy.

Our Poppy

Yesterday morning one of my favorite men in the world passed away. My Poppy, James Ridgeway Pardee.

He was always kind, strong, funny and sweet to me and to everyone who ever came across his path.

He is honestly my hero and has been my whole life.

Tomorrow I head out to Colorado to be at the celebration of his life. I am lucky to have my sister Shannon to go with me. The drive will a a loooooong one.

When I think of him now, I can see him doing a perfect jack knife dive off of the top of his house boat into Lake Powell. It makes me smile.

Here is a copy of his obituary. If I was given the task to write it, I know that it would be a million pages long.

James Ridgeway Pardee, 84, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at his residence in Rockvale, CO. James was born on September 6, 1923 in Waukegan, ILL, to Curtis and Sophie Hinigher Pardee. Jim was raised in Englewood, CO and worked for Mountain Bell Telephone Co. Jim served in the Army during World War II in Europe. After his discharge, he resumed his career at Mountain Bell and retired after 37 years of service. In addition to being a very devoted father, husband and friend, Jim was an avid sportsman. Jim enjoyed many happy hours hunting elk, riding his horse and fishing on the river.

On May 26, 1977, Jim married Betty Linam Nelson. Jim and Betty lived in Aurora, CO, Kanab, UT and Rockvale, CO. Jim is survived by his children: Kathleen (Carl) Wade, Parker, CO, Karen (Neil) Kasperek, Aurora, CO, James R. (Carla) Pardee of Larkspur, CO, Robert (Sherry) Nelson, Evansville, ILL, William Nelson, Everett, WA and Brian (Penny ) Nelson, Widefield, CO, 15 grand children and 20 great grandchildren.
